In July of 2023, WSP Canada Inc. (WSP) was retained by the South Interlake Planning District (SIPD) to review and update the SIPD Development Plan. The Development Plan provides direction for future land use, development, and growth in the Planning District. The Development Plan is a document that consists of detailed policies and maps, which together address current planning and development issues and help prepare the Planning District for future land use challenges and opportunities. The Plan is informed by comprehensive background research and stakeholder engagement. 
 
The Development Plan review process consists of several phases, as follows:
 
PHASE 1: Background analysis and stakeholder engagement
 
PHASE 2: Technical review
 
PHASE 3A: Preparation of the draft Drinking Water and Wastewater Plans
 
PHASE 3B: Preparation of the draft SIPD Development Plan
 
PHASE 4: Adoption of the SIPD Development Plan
 
The process is currently in Phase 3B, and a draft of the SIPD Development Plan is nearing completion. The SIPD and WSP are pleased to be hosting a Public Open House on Thursday, June 5, 2025, to provide information about the review process and to receive feedback on proposed changes to the SIPD Development Plan. All members of the community are encouraged to attend!
